How do we begin to access our subconscious minds—the land of dream where the bizarre surfaces to surprise and delight? We’ll read Franz Wright, John Ashbery, Paul Celan, and others whose work jumps and leaps. Course includes discussion, prompts, and ample time to workshop poems. To explore the process of associative writing, we’ll employ strategies that enable the reception and articulation of what is perhaps any poet’s better half: his or her subconscious.
Due to COVID-19, all classes will take place online-either through Zoom or through Wet Ink, our asynchronous learning platform-through Winter quarter 2021.
All times are listed in Pacific Time.
