Writing with a Mask

All Levels | “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person,” wrote Oscar Wilde. “Give him a mask and he will tell you the truth.” We will explore the uses and possibilities of persona in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. Students will read and discuss examples of persona across genres, and write from prompts in class to explore new voices and perspectives, stretch their abilities, have fun, and break through blocks. We will also share and discuss our own work in class.
