What is Write-O-Rama?

Write-O-Rama is a full day of dozens of workshops offered by Hugo House's writing teachers. Sample Hugo classes, dabble in different forms and genres, and share your fresh, new writing before the ink even dries at an open mic.

One of the best parts? Write-O-Rama is a fundraising event for Richard Hugo House. All money raised through registration goes directly to supporting our mission of fostering writers, building community, and connecting the Pacific Northwest with the world of writing.       

Registration Levels   

Write-O-Rama Underwriter: $90 ($81 early bird price) — includes a membership to Hugo House, plus a present that will be waiting for you at check-in!

Write-O-Rama Supporter: $70 ($63 early bird) — includes a membership to Hugo House!)

Write-O-Rama Participant: $45 ($40.50 early bird)

Student: $25 (no early bird price)

You can register online in the weeks leading up to Write-O-Rama; for the procrastinators among us, day-of registration will also be offered, beginning at 9:30 a.m., though you can drop-in at any time during Write-O-Rama, register, and get writing.

Off the Rez food truck will be parked in the Hugo House parking lot from 12:30 p.m. - to 2:00 p.m. 

Classes at Write-O-Rama

We usually post the class schedule for each Write-O-Rama about a month before the event happens, so watch this space.

How does Write-O-Rama work?  

Hugo teachers generously volunteer their time to teach fifty-minute mini-classes on poetry, prose, revision, outreach for writers, finding inspiration, and much more. Writers like you sign up to participate and get lots of great writing prompts, try out subjects you're thinking about investing more deeply in, and meet other like-minded writers! Plus, proceeds from Write-O-Rama go to support the work we do here at Hugo House, from classes to resources for writers to readings and events. 

Workshops begin at 10 a.m. and run every hour until 5 p.m. (with a lunch break and open mic from 1 - 2 p.m. and final open mic/performance workshop at 5 p.m.)

In the event that you must cancel your Write-O-Rama registration, cancellations must be requested in writing. (Email is fine.) All refunds are subject to a $25 cancellation fee up to a week before the event; after that, no refunds will be made.
