Be an integral part of Seattle’s writing community and help shape the future of Hugo House’s youth programs. From October through May, members of the Youth Leadership Board volunteer a minimum of 10 hours a month at Hugo House on Capitol Hill–workshopping, promoting and hosting the monthly youth open mic, and creating a Hugo House youth anthology.

Commitment Requirements:

  • Bi-weekly board meetings at Hugo House on Wednesdays, 4-6pm
  • Attend and host the monthly youth open mic from 7:30-9pm
  • School year-round commitment from mid October-end of May

Earn community service! Members of the Youth Leadership Board gain an invaluable opportunity to cultivate personal leadership skills and to experience what it means to engage themselves and the community with a humanities focus.

Application Process

The Youth Leadership Board is selected on the basis of a written application and an in-person interview with Hugo House staff.

Applications for the 2014-15 school year have closed. Please check back in August 2015 to apply for the 2015-16 school year.
