Build a Skeleton Creative Writing Session

Build-a-Skeleton Workshop

What's scarier than Halloween? The blank page. Join Julie to beat the blank page blues and get organized. In this two-hour drop-in session, you'll gather the bones of your next story and leave excited to bring it to life. Julie will provide prompts to explore the essential elements—setting, character, and conflict—then dig deeper with experiments in theme and possible endings. Whether you're dusting off an old idea or summoning something new, you'll leave with a story skeleton ready to flesh out on your own time, plus a handful of alternative directions to haunt the next few weeks.

Schedule:

2:00-2:15pm: Introduction & Warm-up

2:15-2:35pm: Prompt 1: Scene & Senses

2:35-2:55pm: Prompt 2: Character & Conflict

2:55-3:05pm: Break

3:05-3:30pm: Prompt 3: Theme Experiments

3:30-3:55pm: Prompt 4: Endings Experiments

3:55-4:00pm: Wrap-up
