Silent Reading Night – February Edition

Date: Tuesday, February 10

Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Theme: Enchanted Between the Lines: A Romance Trope Silent Reading Night

Since it’s just a few days away from Valentine’s Day, we wanted to celebrate this month’s silent reading night with a romance trope themed reading night! Beguiled Books will be tabling for this event.

Event Activities:

1. Tea & Tropes Station

Instead of our typical free community tea table, there will be a tea station with a tea pot filled with a tea that corresponds to a romance trope:

• Enemies to Lovers
• Meet Cute
• Slow Burn
• Smitten (Caffeine free)

Little cards will explain the trope, so readers can sip and match their teas to their reading mood.

2. Blind Date with a Book

• Purchase a “blind date book” from the Beguiled Books table. “Blind Date Books," are wrapped romance reads featuring only a short teaser on the front. No titles, no spoilers: just intrigue, mystery, and a perfect surprise pick for your next favorite book.

3. Romance Genre Wall

• Heart shaped sticky notes will be provided for guests to write about what their favorite parts of the romance genre as well as various other prompts.
• Sticky them for others to admire quietly during reading breaks.

Event Itinerary

6:00 PM – Mix & Mingle

• Grab a cup of tea and settle in.
• Meet fellow readers and share what book you’re currently enjoying.
• BYOM – Bring Your Own Mug! Hot water will be available.

6:30 PM – Silent Reading Begins

• Settle into your cozy reading spot and dive into your book.
• Enjoy the quiet atmosphere of reading in community.

7:30 PM – Reading Break

• Chat with your neighbor! Ask them what they are reading.
• Grab a snack or drink at the bar
• Check out Beguiled Book’s table

7:40 PM – Reading Ends

·     Head back to the Lapis Theater and do more reading.

8:30 PM – Social Time & Book Chats

• Share thoughts on your reads, favorite passages, or just connect with fellow book lovers.
• Beguiled Books will be tabling all evening with their “Blind Date Books” – mysterious wrapped romance reads with only a teaser on the front.

9:00 PM – Event Concludes

• Take your new book home!
