Important Update: Sales Tax Will No Longer Apply to Hugo House Educational Classes

Starting July 1st, 2026 the new Washington Engrossed Substitute Bill 6346 goes into effect. This bill makes cultural sector programs exempt from the retail sales tax previously imposed on them on October 1st, 2025 by Washington State law (ESSB 5814).  

How this will impact the Hugo House community 

When registering for classes and relevant ticketed events that have a start date of July 1st, 2026 and thereafter, you will not be charged sales tax.
