[Bibliophilia] Poetry Verse Play: Featuring Amber Flame

Art doesn’t imitate life at this show—art imitates art. First, Hugo House writer-in-residence Amber Flame will share one of her poems. After the reading, the Bibliophilia Players, our team of improvisational actors, having never heard the poem before, will perform a one-act play inspired by the piece.

Doors at 8pm.

This event is sponsored by Word Lit Zine in co-production with Hugo House.

About Amber Flame

Amber Flame is a queer Black single mama just one magic trick away from growing her unicorn horn. A writer, composer, and performer, Amber’s work has garnered her residencies with Hedgebrook, The Watering Hole, Vermont Studio Center, and YEFE NOF. Flame’s original work has been published in diverse arenas, including Def Jam Poetry. Her first full-length poetry collection, Ordinary Cruelty, was recently published through Write Bloody Press.

An extravaganza of words for word lovers, Bibliophilia is about bringing the page to the stage. Each event at this three-day festival combines poetry and prose with improvisational theater in order to illuminate the world of words. Join us April 19–21 for a lit-loving festival like no other!
