Kids Write-In
Join us for creative inspiration and fun writing projects! Kids Write-In provides free monthly opportunities for youth in Kindergarten-5th grade to explore writing with creative writing projects and/or prompts, facilitated by a published writer and experienced educator. Kids Write-In is geared toward elementary school kids who want to write independently or with the help of an adult.
Kids Write-In takes place on the first or second Wednesday of each month from 4:00-4:40 pm PT on Zoom throughout the school year. Please note that this is a program for YOUTH ONLY! Because this program involves youth, we require that all participants who join via Zoom start the hour with their cameras on so that Hugo House instructors can verify the identity of attendees. If you don’t verify your identity when asked by the instructor, we reserve the right to remove you from the Zoom meeting.

Jay Aquinas Thompson
Jay Aquinas Thompson (he/they) is a poet, essayist, and teacher with recent or forthcoming work in Interim, Pacifica Literary Review, Passages North, COAST | NoCOAST, and Poetry Northwest, where they're a contributing editor. Their poem "Poor and Carefree Strangers," published in FIVES: a Companion to Denver Quarterly, was a 2021–2022 Best of the Net nominee, and they're a 2021 Tin House Workshop alum. They've been awarded grants and fellowships from the Ragdale Foundation, the Community of Writers, the Sustainable Arts Foundation, and King County 4Culture.
