Young Writers Cohort Reading

Find your people at Scribes, Hugo House's immersive summer camp for writers ages 13–19. Workshops, field trips, and more await you.

Family, friends, and community members, join us as we hear from past and current members of our Young Writers Cohort. This year’s Cohort is composed of ten young writers from all over the greater Seattle area.

The evening will kick off with a potluck at 6:30 p.m. The reading will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m.

The Young Writers Cohort is a competitive, school-year-round program that offers an MFA-like experience for talented high school-aged writers. It is an ideal opportunity for young writers who are deeply committed to their writing craft and are seeking deeper literary and community engagement. Each cohort member devotes over 90 hours over nine months to workshopping, studying contemporary poetry and prose, submitting work to literary journals and presses, and attending readings and events. The Cohort is responsible for promoting and emceeing Stage Fright, the monthly open mic, and give input into the design of Hugo House youth programs.
