Body of Work: Writing Illness and Disability [Kate Horowitz]
We will explore the most intimate of relationships: that of a person to their own body. Working in the shadow of great writers from Virginia Woolf to Ada Limón, you’ll learn how to express what can feel inexpressible. We’ll also discuss the practical considerations of writing and publishing vulnerable personal work, the necessary and revolutionary act of resting, and how to avoid ableist language and tropes. Students will complete two writing exercises in the genre of their choice. This workshop is open to writers of all genres and health statuses. This class includes a dinner break.
