Building the Perfect Beast: Creating Strong, Effective Characters in Fiction [BJ Neblett]
All Levels. We will discuss the troubles, problems, and pitfalls of creating characters in fiction. Students will learn how to craft effective protagonists, antagonists, and secondary and minor characters. Other topics will include character-driven stories, plot-driven stories, making likable bad guys, the anti-hero, and alien creature characters in sci-fi and fantasy. Each student will fashion their own set of characters, incorporating them into a finished story.

Class sessions may be recorded if a session falls on a holiday, or if a student has access needs. Class recordings are not guaranteed.

Classes may be cancelled if less than 5 students are enrolled within 10 days before the class start date. If for any reason Hugo House needs to cancel a class, students can choose between a full credit or full refund.
