Derived Poetry & Its (De)forms [Wryly McCutchen]
All Levels | In this course we’ll dig up, corrupt, and de-arrange existing texts through forms like the glossa and Terrance Hayes’s The Golden Shovel. We’ll also experiment with erasures and collage. Together, we’ll look at the approaches and forms used by Amber Dawn, Srikanth Reddy, and Isobel O’Hare. Our first session will be largely generative. Session two will begin with a discussion of plagiarism and recognition. Class will conclude with opportunities for students to share and receive feedback on their derived works.
