En esta clase dinámica y divertida los estudiantes aprenderán a escribir e ilustrar una historia de suspenso inspirada en autores y artistas latinoamericanos. Las sesiones serán impartidas en español por dos artistas locales mexicanas: María de Lourdes Victoria, autora galardonada y Adriana Morales, reconocida artista visual. La serie de talleres alentará a los estudiantes a aprender sobre diferentes escritores y artistas latinoamericanos, y a escribir sus propias historias inspiradas en dichos artistas. La clase culminará con una presentación del trabajo de los estudiantes a través de Seattle Escribe, una organización sin fines de lucro que promueve la literatura en español de los escritores que radican en Estados Unidos.

  • Generative Writing: students create new work during class or from assignments.
  • Both peer and Instructor feedback given.
  • No writing or reading outside of class.

Adriana Morales

Adriana Morales Marín was born in Mexico City and lives in Bellevue WA. 

She has a college degree in graphic design, is a visual artist and author and illustrator of children's books.

Her books are colorful and full of unique and endearing characters; Catrina’s Day of the Dead, Big Mess Jess, The weeping Lady and the Crybaby are some of her titles.

She has collaborated with many local authors illustrating and designing their books, most of them bilingual.

Is an art instructor for programs thru the kcls and the school district in Seattle and East side.

Adriana lives with her husband, mom, 2 kids and 3 cats. Loves to paint and create all sort of things.

Maria de Lourdes Victoria

Maria de Lourdes Victoria

María de Lourdes Victoria is an award-winning, bilingual author, born and raised in Mexico and living in the US. She is the author of novels, short stories and children's books. Maria is the founder of Seattle Escribe.

Most classes are offered at a general and member tuition rates based on instruction hours, with Hugo House members receiving a 10% discount on classes fewer than six sessions.

Early bird discounts are available during the first two weeks of registration and apply to both general and member tuition rates.

To help provide financial accessibility to our class offerings, some classes each quarter are offered with a sliding-scale tuition model, allowing students to pay what they can for the class. For these classes, tuition increments starting at $5 and going up to 125% of the standard pricing will be listed on the page.

Hugo House will only process refund requests that are submitted 5 business days or more before the class start date. To request a refund, log in to your account, go to “My Account,” select the “Orders” tab on the left-hand side, click the appropriate order, and request a refund for your specific class. We do not record classes. However, an exception if a student has specific access needs.

We encourage students to only sign up for classes that fit with their schedule.   

We do not tolerate racist, sexist, homophobic, ableist, transphobic or any other oppressive behaviors, regardless of who commits them. Please check out our full community guidelines by clicking here. If an instance of community guidelines are violated and not resolved within the classroom, students may let us know by filling out the student incident report.

Classes may be cancelled if less than the minimum number of students are enrolled within ten days before the class start date. If Hugo House needs to cancel a class for any reason, students can choose between receiving a full credit toward future classes or full refund.
