Form is Your Friend: Crafting Creative Nonfiction [Jennie Goode]
When writing creative nonfiction, we consider how to best shape the raw material of our experience into writing that resonates beyond us. We’ll examine the wide variety of forms available (braid, collage, container, and more), and we’ll craft our own essays. Readings will include essays by John McPhee, Brenda Miller, Rebecca McClanahan, Dinty W. Moore, and others. Each week, we’ll discuss readings, generate new writing, and comment on participants’ work in small groups. Expect to read and write between classes.
