Love and Theft [Johnny Horton]
If style is the carriage of the mind, as some writers have said, then great writing must be like Grand Theft Auto. In this generative class, we’ll examine the styles of writers we love. Then we’ll break into their garages (metaphorically) and take their cars out for a spin. We’ll practice stealing what we love in the service of writing poems that perfect strangers will love and want to take from. We’ll learn from John Donne, Philip Larkin, Eduardo C. Corral, Roger Reeves, Dora Malech, Sandra Beasley, Jim Harrison, Sylvia Plath, and more. All levels of experience welcome.
Hugo House will only process refund requests that are submitted 5 business days or more before the class start date. To request a refund, log in to your account, go to “My Account,” select the “Orders” tab on the left-hand side, click the appropriate order, and request a refund for your specific class. Administrative fees apply. Please see our full refund policy here.
