In this class, we will take a deep dive into the study of plot and story structure via the HBO show The Last of Us. We will take apart each episode to study how it exemplifies the dynamics of great plotting. Through an extended, entertaining, and impassioned discussion of the power of storytelling, we will acquire the tools to learn how to rigorously analyze plot in any story. Students will need personal access to HBO or another streaming platform to view The Last of Us.

- Craft Discussion: teachers and students explore essential elements of the craft.
- Reading: class engages in close study of one or more works.
- Feedback in class: Instructor feedback given.
- Work outside of class: 1-2 hours of writing or reading outside of class.

Class sessions may be recorded if a session falls on a holiday, or if a student has access needs. Class recordings are not guaranteed.

Classes may be cancelled if less than 5 students are enrolled within 10 days before the class start date. If for any reason Hugo House needs to cancel a class, students can choose between a full credit or full refund.
