Poem and Audience: Sounding the Reviews [Kevin Craft]
Who are you writing for? What audience do you envision beyond the page? For poets, the answer to that question is often less clear than it is for other writers. But knowing what publishers are looking for can increase the odds that your work will find its way into print. In this generative workshop, we’ll use literary journals for inspiration. We’ll examine the principles that shape editorial decisions while writing new poems that engage a variety of audiences and styles. Students will consider the role of audience in their own writing and push their work in new directions.
