Poetic Activism

Time: 12:00am - 12:00am PT
Capacity: seat
Member Price: $148.50
General Price: $165.00

We will read and write poems that lyrically yell and poems that convince in verse. These poems both witness and argue about the greatest challenges that face our world: environmental threats, lengthy wars, genetically modified foods, shrinking wilderness, shrinking animal diversity, consumerism, political madness, social discriminations and on and on. Readings will be provided and include Langston Hughes, Tristan Tzara, Gwendolyn Brooks, Robert Hass, Aime Cesaire, Juliana Spahr, Brenda Hillman, and many others. This class will explore the concept of activism & leave you empowered.

Hugo House will only process refund requests that are submitted 5 business days or more before the class start date.
