Revising and Submitting the Short Story [Becky Mandelbaum]
Intermediate/Advanced | We will explore how to take a short story manuscript and make it publication-ready. In addition to workshop, the course will address a range of questions that typically arise during revision. Where does the story start? What is the story about and how does the story serve or distract from this meaning? We’ll work on crafting scenes, shaping characters, building tension, creating setting, sharpening dialogue, and editing prose. We will also reserve time to discuss the ins and outs of publication, including how (and when) to find journals, submit work, and enter contests.
