The Chekhovian Story [Anca Szilagyi]

What makes Chekhov great? In this class, we’ll read iconic stories by the “father of the modern short story” as well as those by contemporary writers who write in a Chekhovian vein, such as Mavis Gallant, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Ehud Havazelet. We’ll pick apart what makes a story Chekhovian and play with some thoughtful imitation and creative responses.
