All Levels. This weekend workshop is for poets who wish to expand into essays and/or memoir. Mary Karr, Mark Doty, James Galvin, Lucy Grealy—many poets have ventured into prose to tell their stories, and those stories remain infused with their poetic craft. Looking at both poems and prose writings from established poets, we will address metaphor, emblematic objects, dramatic arc, and the importance of ear. Not only will you stretch your feet into the legroom of prose, you will also rise in altitude as a poet. Each participant will leave with a draft of a new essay or section of a memoir.
