The Writer vs. The Performer
Is writing a performance? In what ways are writing and performing at odds with one another? How do internal processes and external influences guide and inform outward-facing work? In this class, we will explore these questions, write for performance, and casually perform (no performance experience necessary!). Co-taught by a poet/visual artist and a professional singer-songwriter, we'll experiment with cross-genre work, improvisation, chance, and role reversal, taking inspiration from writer-performers and pieces that challenge both genres.
