Ways of Seeing: What Can the Photo Tell Us? [Jennie Goode]

All Levels | What can photography teach us about writing? How can we use photographs and photographic concepts—the frame, the flash, depth of field—in our writing? We’ll explore how looking at photos and thinking photographically can shift perspective and expand our literary toolbox. Each week we’ll read work by such writers as Rebecca Solnit, Teju Cole, John Berger, and Judith Kitchen, and apply what we learn. Participants can use the class to generate new work or take a new approach to ongoing projects.
