What Can We Learn from Harry Potter? [Karen Finneyfrock]

Introductory/Intermediate | J. K. Rowling changed the publishing industry with a fantasy series about a boy with an unusual scar. What can middle-grade and young adult authors learn from her work? We will discuss, dissect, and consider selections of the Harry Potter series, analyzing them for voice, plot, scene, sentence, and more. Combining lecture with workshop, this class is open to students writing any genre of fiction intended for a teenage or middle-grade audience. The class will also include a full-day intensive publishing class on the book business and finding a market for your book.
