Writing About Other People
In memoir, writing about other people is unavoidable, challenging, and yes, a little scary. This class will give you new skills for navigating the creative, ethical, and personal issues that arise when other people become characters in our own stories. Class sessions will blend short lecture segments, discussion of assigned readings, and plenty of opportunities to practice new techniques and get informal feedback. Some experience writing memoir or personal nonfiction is helpful, but not required.
