Writing Beyond Description [Joe Ponepinto]
All Levels | Often, the story a writer is really trying to tell lies deep beneath plot and characterization. This class will introduce students to the concept of hyperdetailing—an abundance of description, both spoken and unspoken, that reveals the narrative theme through subtext and infuses it with a deeper and more effective meaning. Students will submit a story or chapter and, through a series of exercises, workshop analysis, and intense revision, will take their work from early draft stage toward completion.
