Writing Poems Inspired By Art: What Happens Beyond the Image

In this class, we will take (virtual) museum tours to find creative flow in the interplay between visual art and poem-making. We’ll look, wander, and wonder at enchanting works of art, finding language to name our experience, for as the Greek poet Simonides said, “Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting with the gift of speech.” The poems we write will be in conversation with color and shape, light and mood, and you’ll leave each session with a brand-new poem (or two) and the afterglow of having created a new connection to art.
