Writing with Bishop in Brazil [Carolyne Wright]
All Levels | Elizabeth Bishop was the consummate poet of travel, writing and translating for fifteen years in Brazil. Her “traveler takes a notebook, writes” about the mysteries of maps, the wonders of cultures and landscapes. “Should we have stayed at home and thought of here?” she asks. In response, we will read her poems, notebook entries, and letters from Brazil and elsewhere, and some of her translations from Portuguese, and write about our own real and imagined places at home and away.
