Yearlong Class in Poetry [Kary Wayson]

As John Donne said, “All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language.” In other words, all poets are apprentices to the poetry that’s come before them. In this yearlong class, we will make, workshop, and revise new poems, drawing deeply and attentively from the work of a wide variety of poets and poetic styles. Be prepared to experiment, experience, and discuss the anxieties and ecstasies of influence upon your practice as a poet while we take the time to practice the poets. Workshop experience required.
