You’re Making a Scene! Creating Scenes in Nonfiction [Chistine Hemp]
It’s no wonder we use this phrase when someone “grabs attention.” Even if scenes are quiet, nonfiction must possess the urgency of a novel. Using established writers’ work, we will learn how scenes engage the reader and why they serve a larger narrative arc. We’ll tackle dialogue, address precise description, and wrestle with metaphor. Each participant will leave with at least one new scene to build their story. Applicable to essayists, memoirists, and all working on literary nonfiction.
