Chuck Klosterman at Elliott Bay Book Co.

This event takes place at The Elliott Bay Book Company.

Chuck Klosterman, essayist, novelist, and provocateur, returns to Seattle and Elliott Bay to talk about his new short story collection, Raised in Captivity: Fictional Nonfiction (Penguin Press), which, true to its title, walks the line between the fiction/fact divide.

“Acidly funny. . . . Armed with everything from existential crises to a robot dinosaur, there’s really something for everyone in this crisp collection of imaginative snippets. A colorful, somewhat wicked collection of stories that are touching as often as they are laugh-out-loud funny.”
Kirkus Reviews

Klosterman will appear in conversation with Seattle writer David Shields, author most recently of The Trouble with Men: Reflections of Sex, Love, Marriage, Porn and Power. He also wrote, directed and produced the film, Lynch: a History, which premiered at the 2019 Seattle International Film Festival.

Chuck Klosterman’s previous books include: Chuck Klosterman X: A Highly Specific, Defiantly Incomplete History of the Early 21st Century,  But What If We’re Wrong?: Thinking about the Present as If It Were the Past and Sex Love and Cocoa Puffs.
