Red Badge Project’s Women Veterans Reading

Please join us for a reading to honor women veterans of the Red Badge program, and witness their stories.

Co-founded in 2012 by former Army Captain Evan Bailey and Tom Skerritt (movie and television star who also happens to be an Air Force veteran), the Red Badge Project supports Wounded Warriors in the journey to reconstruct their individual sense of purpose, understanding of self-worth, and place in community, as they discover and give voice to their unique stories.

About the Hosts

Suzanne Morrison is the author of Yoga Bitch, which was an Indiebound bestseller and has been translated into seven languages. Her fiction and essays have appeared in American Short Fiction, Litro UK, Popshot (UK), Salt Hill, Washington Square, the Chicago Tribune, the Huffington Post, and elsewhere.

Sonya Lea’s memoir, Wondering Who You Are, was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award, and has garnered praise in O, The Oprah Magazine; People; and the BBC. Her essays have appeared in Salon, the Southern Review, Brevity, Guernica, Ms. Magazine, the Los Angeles Review of Books, the Rumpus, and more.

Tom Skerritt, along with former Army Captain Evan Bailey, is the founder of the Red Badge Project, a storytelling project for veterans and active-duty soldiers in the journey to reconstruct their place in the community and give voice to their unique stories. Skerritt is an Air Force veteran who has appeared in more than forty films including M*A*S*H, Top Gun, and A River Runs Through It. Today Red Badge operates throughout Washington with workshops in Federal Way, Spokane, Seattle, Bellingham, Walla Walla, and Everett.
