Held on the first and third Monday of every month in the Hugo House Cabaret at 7:00 p.m., Works in Progress is an open mic for all comers. Read your work, meet other writers, and find out what’s going on in the literary community. Poetry, fiction, essays, memoirs, plays, unclassified, and unclassifiable work are all
The Bushwick Book Club Seattle, Hugo House and Jack Straw Productions present original music inspired by the 2014 Jack Straw Writers Anthology. Bushwick musicians team up with writers from the Anthology to create original works inspired by the writer's creations. There are twelve separate musician/writer teams for the event.
We're kicking off the first cheap wine event of the season with avid '80s science textbook collector Bill Carty, fashion authority and admirer of Lil' Wayne's muscles Lauren Ireland, poet and oral historian Shin Yu Pai, and heartbreak documenter and avid gif user Michelle Peñaloza. The evening will be hosted by queen of author bios Jeanine Walker.
